Raising poultry to meet organic standards is not as simple as providing high quality, organic feed free of antibiotics, supplements and animal by-products.

We are mandated to raise our flocks “responsibly, with care and consideration. Stress, injury and suffering shall be minimized in all livestock handling practices, including transport and slaughter.”

This includes clean, living conditions that accommodate the health and natural behaviour of animals such as fresh water on demand, access to the outdoors, protection from the elements, rotational pasture, exercise areas, fresh air and daylight.

We must also adhere to restrictions around chemicals used whether it be housing, bedding, cleaning and any materials that the chickens may be in contact with upto and including transport and harvest.
